Job Description

Main Responsibilities:

Hanging and circuiting lighting and sound equipment for all CSS Theatre productions. Maintain the organization of the control booth. Repair electrical cables and lighting instruments. Training is provided.

Secondary Responsibilities:

Assist scenery crew in completing construction and painting. Completing the work in all areas of technical theatre production activity including set and prop construction. Training is provided.

General Responsibilities:

Assist with the general organization, maintenance and inventory control of all shops, supplies, and equipment: makeup, sewing notions, electronics, hardware, power tools, paint, etc.

Assist with the requests to borrow or rent equipment, props, costumes, etc.

Attend scheduled CSS Theatre student employee meetings, work Saturdays, and Sunday scenery and costume strikes. These dates are scheduled well in advance.

Work hours are Monday-Friday 8:00-5:00 and are scheduled around students classes and events. The work average is about 10 hours a week. Holidays and college breaks are unscheduled, and the shops and box office are closed.

Some work required in Box Office and Ushering during performance run of shows. Student employees sign up and self-schedule for these performances. These performances are Thursday-Sunday and run for two weeks. There are three shows a year. These performance dates are scheduled well in advance.
