The Village of Lincolnwood, Illinois (12,590 2010 census) is a diverse home-rule municipality directly north of the City of Chicago consisting of 2.7 square miles, with a unique blend of residential, commercial, and industrial areas. The Village is seeking an individual with background and experience in accounting operations related to various journals of the Villages General Ledger, in addition to providing customer service, to serve as the Finance Department Account Clerk. Excellent oral/written communication skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment is required.

This position serves under the direction of the Finance Director. The Account Clerk responsibilities include: prepare, organize, enter, balance, process reports, and post to general ledger vouchers, time keeping data, master file information, billing data, receipts data, as applicable to maintain a single journal of the Villages General Ledger, including each of the following: (1) Cash receipts; (2) Water billing; and (3) Other municipal billing; responding to general inquiries; cashier duties at front counter; coordinating accounts receivable and payable; etc.

The position requires a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) supplemented by training in in typing, one to two years of clerical data entry experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of modern clerical-accounting practices and ability to use office machines such as computers, accounting software, copy machines, typewriter and calculating machines. Local government experience is preferred.

The salary range for this position is $40,984.32 to $54,099.30. This position is classified as a full-time, non-exempt, non-union position. All applicants must be able to work 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
